Grace Freely Supplied DR Tony Evans The Urban Alternative Doing battle with Satan requires more than a dose of willpower. All warfare requires weaponry. Spiritual warfare requires spiritual weaponry. These weapons are given to you by God, and when you wear and apply them, you are assured the victory that God has in store for you. Your strength comes from Him. Wear it well and you will experience His victory in your life. Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. Ephesians 6:10-20 Is My Thought Life a Problem? by Susan Thomas Bible Study Tools It’s amazing how our thoughts can change things. Perspective matters. What we think about is HUGE. God talks about the importance of our thought life all throughout the scriptures. Our thoughts are undeniably important and God has a design for our thought life.
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect. Romans 12:2 We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. Philippians 4:8 For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. Romans 8:5 For out of the heart come evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, slanders. Matthew 15:19 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vine dresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. John 15 Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekiel 36:26 The Sovereignty of God and Prayer by John Piper Desiring God Oh, how grateful we should be that He has chosen us to be employed in this high service! How eager we should be to spend much time in prayer!
Also we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to His purpose who works all things after the counsel of His will, Ephesians 1:11 Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love Ephesians 1:4 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, Ehpesians 1:5 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, Ephesians 2:1 But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed, Romans 6:17 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin." John 8:34 In whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 2 Corinthians 4:4 Being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart; Ephesians 4:18 Because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, Romans 8:7 And He was saying, “For this reason I have said to you, that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted him from the Father.” John 6:65 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day. John 6:44 Now while they were passing through the cities, they were delivering the decrees which had been decided upon by the apostles and elders who were in Jerusalem, for them to observe. Acts 16:4 For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6 Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. Ezekial 36:26 Who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. John 1:13 The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged, with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will. 2 Timothy 2:24-26 How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? Romans 10:14 With gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, 2 Timothy 2:25 For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; Ephesians 2:8 He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, Ephesians 1:5 But when God, who had set me apart even from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace, was pleased Galatians 1:15 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5 And He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:27 For I will not presume to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me, resulting in the obedience of the Gentiles by word and deed, Romans 15:18 Equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. Hebrews 13:21 Godly Boundaries by Bernie Dymet Christianity Works ...Now setting boundaries in our lives is incredibly important, but not all boundaries are good boundaries. As things turn out, we need to set the right boundaries in the right places, and nowhere is that more important than the boundaries we set in our hearts...
A GODLESS WORLD
Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Genesis 6:5 Now while Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his spirit was being provoked within him as he was observing the city full of idols. Acts 17:16 IT GETS WORSE Because lawlessness is increased, most people’s love will grow cold. Matthew 24:12 that is, the one whose coming is in accord with the activity of Satan, with all power and signs and false wonders and with all the deception of wickedness for those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved. For this reason God will send upon them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false, 2 Thessalonians 2:9-11 DON'T DESPAIR I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church; and the gates of Hades will not overpower it. Matthew 16:18 This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come. Matthew 24:14 Then that lawless one will be revealed whom the Lord will slay with the breath of His mouth and bring to an end by the appearance of His coming; 2 Thessalonians 2:8 DON'T LOSE HOPE ...But if we’re constantly outraged, disgusted, discouraged, or panicked, then we haven’t come to grips with the Bible’s grim description of the world, and we aren’t fully trusting in our coming, conquering, reigning king. Yeah, it’s bad. Yeah, it’s gonna get worse. But the gospel will continue to triumph, Jesus will remain on the throne, and Jesus will finally rid the world of wickedness. GOD WANTS US TO KNOW ABOUT SPIRITUAL GIFTS
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware. 1 Corinthians 12:1 OBJECTIVE TRUTHS ABOUT JESUS GOVERN SUBJECTIVE SPIRITUAL EXPERIENCES Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus is accursed”; and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:3 DIFFERENT CHRISTIANS HAVE DIFFERENT SPIRITUAL POWERS GIVEN TO THEM BY THE HOLY SPIRIT Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:4 FOR EXAMPLE, THESE DIFFERENT SPIRITUAL POWERS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 THE SPIRIT OF GOD IS SOVEREIGN OVER WHEN AND TO WHOM HE GIVES SUCH POWERS But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills. 1 Corinthians 12:11 THE AIM OF ALL THE GIFTS IS THE COMMON GOOD OF THE CHURCH But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 1 Corinthians 12:7 THE VARIETY OF GIFTS IS LIKE THE VARIETY OF BODY PARTS, SUCH AS EYE AND EAR, HAND AND FOOT For the body is not one member, but many. 1 Corinthians 12:14 THEREFORE, IF A SPIRITUAL GIFT IS NOT USED, IT'S LIKE THE HUMAN BODY NOT HEARING If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? 1 Corinthians 12:17 THEREFORE, WE SHOULD AVAIL OURSELVES OF THE SPIRITUAL POWERS GOD GIVES US THROUGH OTHERS And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; or again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 1 Corinthians 12:21 Years of Seven by Gary Stearman Prophecy Watchers In 2017 Israel will celebrate some mathematically memorable dates. It’s the 120 year anniversary of the first Zionist Congress; the 100 year anniversary of the Balfour Declaration; the 70 year anniversary of the UN Mandate setting up the Jewish State; and the 50 year anniversary of the 1967 war and the recapture of the Temple Mount. Is this all just a coincidence? Or is the Master Mathematician sending us a message? Gary and Bob discuss a recent article by Gary—Years of Seven—and explain the logic behind dispensational theology and the 6-day 6,000-year plan for man. Is time about to run out on this world? Where are we on God’s timepiece?
