Over Easter, police and security officials raided a building linked to the Maghagha archbishopric of Minya. They seized belongings and attacked young people there, claiming the church building was unlicensed.
The archbishopric said in a statement that the raid was a 'blatant assault' on holy sites and religious rights. It called on the Government to investigate and bring those responsible to justice.
