Fantastic paintings. I noticed that the paintings in later years, late 1590's through early 1600's became darker in color and background. Any thought as to why El Greco's paintings went from lighter to darker?

Karron, perhaps to add a somber mood to the whole scene so the shimmering metallic colors would stand out and draw the eye to the humanity of the subject at hand. My 2 cents worth - LOL
