Hello, my name is David Simmermon. I was saved at the early age of seven years in a Holy Rolling, Pentecostal, Spirit-filled church. My sister led me to it. Thus began a lifelong quest to find and know God. Unlike my sister, I have fallen away from the church, and from God, many times in my life. She, on the other hand, was true to the church and faithful to God her entire life. She contracted cancer and passed away several years ago.
That time of loss was difficult, but it also represented a new beginning for me. I dove back into the scriptures like I never had before. Why? I am not sure, but I had certainly had a glimpse of my own mortality. I’ve studied scripture throughout my life and have had many questions. There are few pastors and Christian teachers that can actually answer my many queries.
So, I study on my own, and read everything I can about God. I listen to volumes of podcasts. I am always trying to discern the deeper meanings of scripture, the Word of God. I sometimes stand on the shoulders of other researchers and sometimes rely upon my own interpretations. I also give myself permission to change my opinion, based upon the current evolution of my own understanding. I know things will change in the future as well. I learn and grow more each day. With each new turn of the sun, I understand more. The Bible is a deep, enriching study. I cannot claim to know what it all means. I do have a basic understanding of doctrine, however.
Annie and I met and began to realize we make a good team. We decided to collaborate and put up this website, because we both have keen desire to further our understanding of scripture and have faith in God's Word. We also have a common wish to collect everything we can find, assemble it under one roof, and thereby contribute to everyone’s spiritual growth and understanding. I contribute my vast library, collected over the years, and Annie polishes and makes it pretty.
I do hold certain views that are unlikely to change, but we are not here to argue such points. For example, I am not in the pre-tribulation camp. Nor do I believe in Hell. I believe all of God’s children will be reconciled back to God in His time. This makes sense to me, that His creation would become His again. There will be a time far in the future when His flock will be returned to Him. This is His design, and we find reference to it in His Word.
Please enjoy the website. My wish is that you can utilize onesaint.org as a tool in your study. Don’t be shy! Your comments are very welcome, and are a great way to participate in discussion of the ideas presented in each blog. We relish your e-mail and suggestions also. I will gladly engage in conversation with anyone about most anything presented here. Everything on this website is free. No copyrights exist that we are aware of, and permission is requested where copyrights are held. We pull our material from the public domain. It is a vast resource, and here we consolidate, assemble, and present it for your use. Welcome and enjoy!
