The Nigerian Middle Belt is the scene of ever-continuing attacks on Christian farmers by mainly Muslim Hausa-Fulani herdsmen, including this past week where attacks have occurred in both Kaduna and Benue States. Now a recent report about another state in the Middle Belt, Nasarawa, shows that it too has been the scene of serious violence against Christians. In the period January 2013 – May 2016, 826 Christians were killed and 878 injured. There were 102 churches destroyed or damaged.

I stand with Dr. Eric Walsh's freedom to believe and live according to his deeply-held beliefs. The demand that he hand over his sermons, sermon notes, and all pastoral documents including his Bible represents a government intrusion into the sanctity of the church, pastor's study, and pulpit. Heavy-handed tactics like this have the effect of intimidating and silencing people of faith everywhere. Such targeting of the pulpit by the government is unconscionable, and I urge you to use all means of your authority to correct this egregious overreach of the state into church affairs. Christians and Muslims in Pakistan worked together to get basphemy charges dropped against a nine-year-old Pakistani Christian boy.
The boy, Izhan and his mother, Shakil, a nurse from Quetta, were accused six days ago of burning pages of the Quran. The police were called in and the mother and child imprisoned. This led to protests by local Christian and Muslim leaders and politicians, and the charges [were] quashed. The political party Jamait Ulema Islam, or Assembly of Islamic Clergy, played a key role in freeing the two Christians from jail... Ethiopian Christian Teenagers' Faith Unshaken after Beating and Arrest Leah Marieann Klett Gospel Herald An Ethiopian Christian teenager who was imprisoned and brutally beaten by Muslims for handing out a book about Christianity has been re-arrested hours after she was released.
According to World Watch Monitor, the four teenagers - Eden, 15, Gifti and Mihiret, both 14, and Deborah, 18 - were arrested earlier in October after distributing a Christian book in Amharic, Ethiopia's main language, by a local author, entitled Let's speak the truth in love: Answers to questions by Ahmed Deedat. The book answers questions about the Christian faith posed by the late South African Islamic scholar and former head of the Islamic Propagation Center International. Christians in Babile, around 550 km east of the capital Addis Ababa, decided to distribute it following cross-cultural evangelism training, according to WWM. Believing the book insulted Islam, local Muslims responded with outrage, attacking churches and threatening religious leaders. The teenagers were subsequently arrested by local police, and one of the girls, Eden, suffered a beating on her first night in prison. But according to WWM's source, who was able to visit the girls in prison and speak to Eden and Deborah, their faith is unshaken. "This [suffering] is an honor for us. We should expect persecution. We are not afraid. We are singing and praying here in prison," Eden said. Deborah added, "It is an honor to be jailed for God's Kingdom..." Prayer Vigil Shut Down in Nicaragua
