Following the murder of about 30 Christians in Libya we ask you please to stand in prayer for our brothers and sisters right across the Middle East and North Africa...
...Religious tensions across the region are high. Last week, 15 Muslim migrants were arrested by Sicilian police on suspicion of throwing 12 Christians overboard from a boat that left Libya bound for Europe last Tuesday. The detainees have been charged with 'murder motivated by religious hate'. The Christians, said to be from Ghana and Nigeria, are all feared dead. Please PRAY NOW for our Christian family in North Africa and the Middle East. Pray that they will know that God is their rock, fortress and deliverer (Psalm 18:2). Pray too that they will keep their eyes fixed on Him. Brutal persecution is putting Pakistan back in the headlines. At least two Pakistani Christians in Lahore were recently targeted by Muslims.
“If they identified themselves as Christians, they were attacked,” reports Bruce Allen of Forgotten Missionaries International (FMI). Friday firesOn Friday, while on their way to the mosque, two Muslims stopped 14-year-old *Fodor in the streets and asked him what religion he followed. When Fodor said he was a Christian, “They pursued him on their motorbikes; they threw kerosene on him and then lit him [on] fire,” Allen says. “He was burned over 55% of his body.” FMI supports national church planters and pastors as they carry the Gospel to their countrymen. The ministry’s National Director for Pakistan, *Nehemiah, informed Allen of this attack shortly after it happened. A few hours later, when Allen was passing the news along to FMI-supporters via e-mail, Nehemiah called again: another Christian boy had been set on fire. “We were wondering if we were going to be seeing a spate of these [attacks] over the weekend,”recalls Allen. “So I quickly alerted Mission Network News and said, ‘Can you help us get the word out to be praying for God to protect these people, who are not denying His name?'” A prayer request went up on MNN’s Facebook page, and prayer warriors responded... Unfortunately, Fodor has died from the burns he received. Please visit the facebook page linked above, and continue to pray for Fodor and his family. Pray for all Christians persecuted all around the world... A pastor's daughter was killed and a church destroyed when local youths wielding machetes attacked a village in Kano state.
The mob set fire to the home of Rev Habila Garba in Gidan Maso village – after failing to find a Christian whom they reportedly wanted to kill for turning away from Islam. The pastor's daughter was trapped inside her home and suffocated. The mob attacked local Christians with machetes, leaving two of them with broken arms. They also burned down the village's Baptist church in the attack last Wednesday. PLEASE PRAY for our brother, Rev Habila, and his family as they come to terms with their loss. Pray that the Christians of Gidan Maso will have the strength to persist in their faith and not to retaliate. Pray for wisdom for Nigeria's new Government as well as determination to tackle religiously motivated violence. 1,500 Medical Studies Declare Healing Power of Prayer Undeniable by Amanda Casanova Christian Headlines A belief in God may make people healthier and happier, according to new studies.
"Studies have shown prayer can prevent people from getting sick—and when they do get sick, prayer can help them get better faster," Duke University's Harold G. Koenig, M.D., tells Newsmax Health. The analysis of more than 1,500 medical studies showed that “people who are more religious and pray more have better mental and physical health,” Koenig said. The results come from a study published in the Southern Medical Journal... Thank God for the small church amongst the Alagwa who hosted both Good Friday and Easter Sunday services. 70 people were counted on Friday afternoon- many had never been at a church gathering before- everyone heard the good news of Jesus. On Sunday, the church and many visitors met under a tree so there would be enough room for all! Thank God for the new openness to come to church publically and hear about Jesus. Please pray for all those who heard the good news about Jesus for the first time. Please pray for those who have now heard and understood about God’s gift of eternal life through Jesus. Pray that God will move in their hearts so that they have the courage to make the decision to follow him.
