Tanzania: Arson Attacks on Northern Churches
Prayer Alert, March 23rd 2015
Three churches have been set on fire within the last month in an area near Lake Victoria in northern Tanzania. Thankfully no one was killed but there was substantial damage to all the churches.
In the latest attack, on March 12, the Pentecostal church in Kyebitembe in the Kahororo ward of Bukoba municipality was set alight.
Two days previously, a church in Kagondo ward was attacked and intruders burnt Bibles, benches and robes. Earlier, a church in Rulongo-Kanazi parish was set alight.
A Release contact says that a Christian man was recently killed in a Pentecostal church in Bukoba, leaving a widow and two children.
Please pray NOW for your brothers and sisters in northern Tanzania: that God would keep them in perfect peace and that they would stand firm in their faith; that God would comfort the family of the Christian killed in Bukoba; and that those responsible for the attacks would be brought to justice.

PAKISTAN - Christian Tortured to Death to Force Mother's False Confession
Prayer Alert, March 12th, 2015
A Pakistani Christian has accused police of torturing her son to death – to force her to admit to a crime she did not commit.
Zubair Masih's body was dumped outside his home in Lahore on Friday, according to Release partners.
Zubair, his mother Ayesha (pictured) and his uncle Arshad were detained after Ayesha's former employer accused her of stealing money and gold from him. She had worked as his maid for several years, before leaving her job last month.
Police tortured Zubair, 20, in front of his mother in custody, to force a confession from her. Ayesha and Arshad were also badly beaten. But she continued to deny all charges.
Soon after Ayesha was released, her son's body appeared outside their home on Friday. Local Christians staged a protest in the Shamsabad area of Lahore on Sunday, blocking a main road and demanding justice for Zubair. (Source: Release partners).
Pray for Family of Evangelist Who Died Suddenly
A widow in India who was imprisoned for 15 days because of her evangelistic work has died of an apparent heart attack, leaving behind an 8-year-old daughter. Vani, 31, was arrested in February 2014 and detained for two weeks after being accused of kidnapping a teenage girl and forcing her to convert to Christianity. While in jail, Vani witnessed to more than 70 women, 14 of whom became Christians. She returned to the jail every two months for a regular court appearance, using her afternoons there to pray for the police officers and prisoners. A guard at the jail came to faith in Christ and invited Vani to her house to pray for her.
India: Evangelical Group Beaten by Police
Please pray for a group of 20 evangelicals who were reportedly detained illegally while on a trip to northwest India and then beaten by police.
Several of the group were left with severe bruising after police in Jaipur beat them on their palms with sticks, according to a human rights group that helped secure their release.
The People’s Union for Civil Liberties said the Christians were freed only after it intervened and persuaded senior officials in Rajasthan state to sanction their release. The Christians were then ordered to leave the city at once...
Local authorities in Chiapas, Mexico, recently issued an official warning to Pastor Antonio Cruz Rodas, ordering him to stop evangelizing in the area. Pastor Rodas has also received death threats. Authorities issued the pastor a document reading, "Today we strongly state total prohibition of access to people that profess any religion different than the one in our community." Most people in the area practice "folk Catholicism," a syncretistic blend of Catholicism and indigenous practices. Pastor Rodas says he is not afraid of being killed, and VOM contacts have asked that we pray for his continued ministry in this hostile area. Three families in the area have come to faith in Christ, and the pastor has planted two churches in communities similar to this one.

"He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the Lord is powerful and so that you might always fear the Lord your god" Joshua 4:24
Many San are yet to know about this God of creation that we worship. can we pray that the San will come to experience the power of the Lord and know that He is mighty to save them from their everyday struggles."
Pray for Zeka and Anita and their twins Sally and Sarah as they settle in the San community. Praise the Lord that they are picking up language fast!!
The family of a Pakistani Christian fear he has been kidnapped and may be killed.
The man, known as 'S', has not been seen for three months or made any attempt to contact his relatives. His family suspect he is being held by their employer, a local landlord: S, his seven brothers and their father have all worked for this man.
The father has been on the man's staff for 22 years, despite suffering regular abuse at his hands. A recent assault left him unable to walk properly.
One of the brothers told Release partners that the family's employer was a cruel man whom, he fears, may be forcing S to sell drugs.

Pray for Five Christian Leaders Jailed for Praying for Sick Woman
Five Christian leaders in Laos were sentenced to jail and fined on Feb. 2 after a Christian woman they had prayed for died of an illness. Mrs. Kaithong, Mr. Puphet, Mr. Muk, Mr. Hasadee and Mr. Tiang were charged with "treating [a person] without an official license causing her to die." The Christian leaders were each sentenced to nine months in prison and fined for allegedly claiming to be healers. The problems developed when authorities realized the woman's family wanted a Christian burial service. Authorities came to the family’s home to arrest the leaders and tried to force the family to recant their faith.
