The family of Bahaa Gamal Mikhael, a soldier in the Egyptian Army, recently received news that their son had committed suicide. The family strongly doubts the alleged cause of death, as it’s unlikely he would have been able to shoot himself in the heart twice. The family believes Bahaa’s outspoken Christian faith motivated someone to kill him. A VOM worker said Christian soldiers in the Egyptian Army have previously been killed by fellow soldiers for refusing to convert to Islam.

Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Syria and Iraq who are under mounting pressure from Islamist extremists.
As recently as Saturday an Iraqi Franciscan priest, Dhiya Aziz, was abducted by militants in Yacoubieh, Idlib province, in north-west Syria. The area is under the control of Jabhat an-Nusra, a group with links to al-Qaeda. Advances by Islamic State militants in the north-eastern Syrian city of Hasaka on June 24 led to further mass displacement, including of Assyrian Christian families, some of whom had sought refuge there in February. Christian leaders in the Middle East are now calling for renewed and urgent prayers for peace. Some feel frustrated by what they perceive as a lack of support from the church in the West. Patriarch Louis Sako of Baghdad recently said, 'We feel forgotten and isolated.' Pray that Pastor Dhiya Aziz will be released soon. Pray to Almighty God that there will be an end to the violence and bloodshed in the Middle East. (Sources: Middle East Concern; World Evangelical Alliance Religious Liberty Commission) Post Your Prayers for Asia Bibi iCommitToPray Asia Bibi remains on death row more than six year after she was arrested, despite multiple calls for her release from the highest levels. According to her lawyer, her legal team is ready to fully present her case before Pakistan’s Supreme Court, but the court is busy. Her case has worked its way up through the legal system, but so far, the charge of blasphemy remains in place. When VOM workers spoke with Asia’s husband, Ashiq, on July 6, he told them Asia is in good health. While stories have circulated that Asia is unwell, Ashiq said they were untrue. She remains at Multan jail, and she was happy to see her two daughters, Isha and Ishem, during the visit. Ashiq told VOM workers, “Whenever I go visit, she requests prayer from the brothers and sisters who are helping her. Asia Bibi received a death sentence after being convicted of blasphemy in connection with an argument at work in 2009.

Saint Michael, the archangel, defend us in battle! Be our protection against the malice and snares of the devil! We humbly beseech God to COMMAND St. Michael, and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the Divine Power, the power given to him by God's command, thrust into Hell Satan and all the evil spirits who roam the world seeking the destruction of souls. Amen! Welcome to the PPSC Web Page for the Day of Prayer for Asia Bibi starting on Friday July 17th.

Holy Land: Jerusalem Christians Told to 'Leave or Risk Being Killed' Prayer Alert, July 3, 2015 Release International Please pray for our brothers and sisters in Jerusalem who are increasingly concerned about Islamist threats to their community.
Leaflets distributed recently in East Jerusalem warn Christians to leave the city before the end of Ramadan onJuly 18 or risk being killed. The leaflets are attributed to a group calling itself 'Islamic State in Palestine'. Muslim and Christian religious leaders have been quick to condemn the leaflets but Christians in Jerusalem are said to be alarmed and have requested prayer. There have been a number of recent incidents targeting Christians in Jerusalem's Old City – as well as reports of mounting pressure on Palestinian Christians amid fears of local Muslims being radicalised (Prayer Alert, June 18). (Source: Middle East Concern) Please pray that God will be with His people in Jerusalem and that they will know His peace, guidance and protection. This month's Prisoners of Faith Alert is an update on the prisoner profile for pastor Kim Kuk-gi. This ordained Presbyterian minister was recently sentenced to life imprisonment in a North Korean labour camp. ...Prior to the arrival of Europeans, the islands were one of the most important spiritual centers of the region. There is much spiritual significance, reverence, and worship, in terms of African tribal religion and folklore, of the lake, certain of its creatures, and the high hills of the islands. Church planting and mercy medical ministry have occurred for several years in the fishing camps; Church of Uganda, various Pentecostals, and some smaller mission initiatives have been established on several islands...
