Christians Call for Day of Prayer for their Nation at Release International
You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;
Matthew 5:14
"Syrian Christians are calling for a day of prayer and fasting for their nation this Friday.
"The call comes as the Syrian church mourns the loss of a Dutch pastor, Frans van der Lugt, who was murderedon Monday in the Bustan ad-Diwan neighbourhood of Homs.
"The 72-year-old pastor, who had lived in Syria for more than 40 years, was shot dead at his home by a militant believed to be associated with Jabhat an-Nusra. The group, which has control of the area, has links with al-Qaeda."
Our Father,
We come to You today with much gratitude for all the ways You bless us.
We ask You to help the Syrian Christians, who have suffered persecution and suffered for so long now. Please, Father, bring peace to the nation of Syria. We pray that Your believers in Syria draw close to You and look to You for wisdom and patience. We ask that You protect and guide the leaders of this nation to rapid solution of the crisis there, according to Your will. We pray that the church in Syria will soon become the 'city on the hill,' radiant with the light of Christ.
In the name of Jesus we pray.
Amen.
