Psalm 119, Aleph

How blessed are those whose way is blameless, Who walk in the law of the LORD. How blessed are those who observe His testimonies, Who seek Him with all their heart. They also do no unrighteousness; They walk in His ways. You have ordained Your precepts, That we should keep them diligently. Oh that my ways may be established To keep Your statutes! Then I shall not be ashamed When I look upon all Your commandments. I shall give thanks to You with uprightness of heart, When I learn Your righteous judgments. I shall keep Your statutes; Do not forsake me utterly!
Psalm 119:1-8

The Word

Inspired by Li An, writing for Day by Day with the Persecuted Church, compiled by Jan Pitt, at One Place.

...like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation,
1 Peter 2:2

For, "ALL FLESH IS LIKE GRASS, AND ALL ITS GLORY LIKE THE FLOWER OF GRASS. THE GRASS WITHERS, AND THE FLOWER FALLS OFF, BUT THE WORD OF THE LORD ENDURES FOREVER." And this is the word which was preached to you.
1 Peter 1:24-25

I have rejoiced in the way of Your testimonies, As much as in all riches. I will meditate on Your precepts And regard Your ways. I shall delight in Your statutes; I shall not forget Your word. Gimel.
Psalm 119:14-16

The unfolding of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple.
Psalm 119:130

How sweet are Your words to my taste! Yes, sweeter than honey to my mouth! From Your precepts I get understanding; Therefore  I hate every false way. Nun.
Psalm 119:103-105

Comfort for the Tired and Afflicted Soul

Read Nevertheless, by Alistair Begg, at One Place.

Nevertheless I am continually with You; You have taken hold of my right hand.
Psalm 73:23

"You always think of me, O God. The tender mercies of Your love continually yearn toward me. You are always making providence work for my good. You have set me as a signet upon Your arm; Your love is strong as death, and many waters cannot quench it; neither can the floods drown it. Surprising grace! You see me in Christ, and though in myself disapproved, You behold me as wearing Christ's garments and washed in His blood, and so I stand accepted in Your presence. I am therefore continually in Your favor-"continually with you." "

Flesh and The Holy Spirit

PictureThe Holy Spirit, by Corrado Giaquinto, 1750s

Read The Raging Battle, by DR Tony Evans of Alternative View, at One Place.

"The very Spirit of God has taken up residence in our lives if we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior. God wants to express His mind, His thoughts, His desires, and His will through our mortal bodies. But for us to see this happen, we need to be under the Holy Spirit’s control. While this is taking place, we are going to experience conflict within ourselves. This is one way we can know we are Christians. If we have no battles raging within, we are probably not saved. There is no opposition within us. God says the flesh and the Spirit are total opposites; they are not going to get along with each other at all."

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.
For the flesh sets its desire against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh;
for these are in opposition to one another, so that you may not do the things that you please.
Galatians 5:16-17

Read God Loves Humility, by Max Lucado, from Traveling Light.

But may it never be that I would boast, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
Galatians 6:14

"Do you feel a need for affirmation? Does your self-esteem need attention? You don’t need to drop names or show off. You need only to pause at the base of the cross and be reminded of this:  The maker of the stars would rather die for you than live without you. And that’s a fact.  So if you need to brag, brag about that!"

We Will Be Changed

"The sun has one kind of splendor, the moon another and the stars another; and
star differs from star in splendor. So will it be with the resurrection of the
dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown
in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in
power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body…in a flash, in
the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the
dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed."

Read more of Pete Briscoe at One Place.

There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory. So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown a perishable body, it is raised an imperishable body; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
1 Corinthians 15:41-44

In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
1 Corinthians 15:52

Praise the Lord!  Hallelujah!  Maryam and Marziyeh have been released from prison in Iran.

"Maryam Rostampour and Marziyeh Amirizadeh spent 259 days in Iran's notorious Evin Prison. Their “crime” was following Jesus Christ and encouraging others to follow him. While in prison, they received letters from believers around the world who had heard about their arrest."

You Can Read More about Maryam and Marziyea and others like them at Voice of the Martyrs.

PictureCatechism Lesson, by Jules-Alexis Meunier
He who neglects discipline despises himself, But he who listens to reproof acquires understanding.
Proverbs 15:32

People who are accountable usually have four qualities:

Vulnerability
Teachability
Availability
Honesty

That's a tough list!  Did you make it?

Read Charles R Swindoll as he tells us more in Accountable to Each Other at One Place.

We Blame Him, Still He Does Not Reject Us

Read Naomi, from Day by Day with the Persecuted Church, compiled by Jan Pit, at Open Doors

"Be careful, Naomi. Don't blame God for your own mistakes. She and her husband had voluntarily left Israel. It had been their choice to go and live in Moab, while Moab was under a curse from God (Deuteronomy 23:3). What is more, Elimelech and Naomi allowed their sons to marry Moabite women. That too was not according to God's command (Deuteronomy 7:3-4). Instead of blaming God, she should have acknowledged that she had brought much bitterness upon herself. Yet God does not reject Naomi."
