We Were Created for One Another

...so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
Romans 12:5

Bear one another's burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.
Galatians 6:2

Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, implore you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love,
Ephesians 4:1-2

So then we pursue the things which make for peace and the building up of one another.
Romans 14:19

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

A Relationship with God

PictureCatherine of Siena, Anonymous, 19th Century

In our daily struggle, we sometimes forget to cleave close to the bosom of the Lord.  Charles Swindoll has written a most helpful article regarding this issue.  I plan to publish all of the scripture he sites therein at a later date, but for today, I publish this gentle reminder...

Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth. Serve the LORD with gladness; Come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the LORD Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name. For the LORD is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting And His faithfulness to all generations.

Psalm 100

Has God Forgotten Us?

PictureGod the Father, Conegliano, 1515

"It's easy to be discouraged from our vantage point here on earth, but let us have the mind of Christ in seeing things from God's perspective. He hasn't forgotten us or His promises to us. It's just that His timing is perfect."

Read Has God Forgotten Me? adapted from Charles H. Spurgeon's, The Treasury of David, at Bible Study Tools.

Has His lovingkindness ceased forever? Has His promise come to an end forever? Has God forgotten to be gracious, Or has He in anger withdrawn His compassion? Selah.
Psalm 77:8-9

'EVERY RAVINE WILL BE FILLED, AND EVERY MOUNTAIN AND HILL WILL BE BROUGHT LOW; THE CROOKED WILL BECOME  STRAIGHT, AND THE ROUGH ROADS SMOOTH;
Luke 3:5

Who is this who comes from Edom, With garments of glowing colors from Bozrah, This One who is majestic in His apparel, Marching in the greatness of His strength? "It is I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save."
Isaiah 63:1

What then? If some did not believe, their unbelief will not nullify the faithfulness of God, will it?
Romans 3:3

He Has Promised To Us

PictureAngel, by Edward Burne-Jones, 1878

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the LORD, "My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!" For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper And from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark. You will not be afraid of the terror by night, Or of the arrow that flies by day; Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon.

A thousand may fall at your side And ten thousand at your right hand, But it shall not approach you. You will only look on with your eyes And see the recompense of the wicked. For you have made the LORD, my refuge, Even the Most High, your dwelling place. No evil will befall you, Nor will any plague come near your tent.

For He will give His angels charge concerning you, To guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, That you do not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread upon the lion and cobra, The young lion and the serpent you will trample down. "Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name. "He will call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. "With a long life I will satisfy him And let him see My salvation."

Psalm 91

God's Cocoon

Read Time in the Cocoon, by Stephen Aterburn and David Stoop, at One
Place.

"We too have times of transition and metamorphosis, yet our remedy is not unlike the butterfly’s. If we try escaping God’s cocoon before He’s done transforming us, we risk undermining and delaying what He’s trying to do. So when you’re experiencing time in the cocoon, relax! In the stillness, you hear God. In the waiting, your character is formed. If you wait upon God and allow Him to release you from the cocoon, you’ll be strong and prepared to fly in ways you never could have if you’d left the cocoon too soon."

I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the LORD In the land of the living. Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD.
Psalm 27:13-14

Bless the Lord, O My Soul!

Bless the LORD, O my soul! O LORD my God, You are very great; You are clothed with splendor and majesty, Covering Yourself with light as with a cloak, Stretching out heaven like a tent curtain. He lays the beams of His upper chambers in the waters; He makes the clouds His chariot; He walks upon the wings of the wind; He makes the winds His messengers, Flaming fire His ministers. He established the earth upon its foundations, So that it will not totter forever and ever. You covered it with the deep as with a garment; The waters were standing above the mountains. At Your rebuke they fled, At the sound of Your thunder they hurried away. The mountains rose; the valleys sank down To the place which You established for them. You set a boundary that they may not pass over, So that they will not return to cover the earth. He sends forth springs in the valleys; They flow between the mountains; They give drink to every beast of the field; The wild donkeys quench their thirst. Beside them the birds of the heavens dwell; They lift up their voices among  the branches. He waters the mountains from His upper chambers; The earth is satisfied with the fruit of His works.

Psalm 104:1-13

Focus Like a Laser on GOD and His Commandments

Read Walk Thru the Bible's, Daily Devotion at One Place for a deep, insightful and peace-producing study of Ecclesiastes 12.

In addition to being a wise man, the Preacher also taught the people knowledge; and he pondered, searched out and arranged many proverbs. The Preacher sought to find delightful words and to write words of truth correctly. The words of wise men are like goads, and masters of these collections are like well-driven nails; they are given by one Shepherd. But beyond this, my son, be warned: the writing of many books is endless, and excessive devotion to books is wearying to the body. The conclusion, when all has been heard, is:

fear God and keep His commandments,

because this applies to every person. For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil.

Ecclesiastes 12:9-14
