In His Presence

Read Living in Gratitude In His Presence, by DR Tony Evans, at One Place.

DR Tony Evans reminds us today that "in even the worst situations there’s always a reason to give thanks."

"Even in pain, they were singing and praising God. Later, because of their testimony the jailor was saved."
22 The crowd rose up together against them, and the chief magistrates tore their robes off them and proceeded to order them to be beaten with rods. 23 When they had struck them with many blows, they threw them into prison, commanding the jailer to guard them securely; 24 and he, having received such a command, threw them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks. 25 But about midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God, and the prisoners were listening to them; 26 and suddenly there came a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison house were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were unfastened. 27 When the jailer awoke and saw the prison doors opened, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, supposing that the prisoners had escaped. 28 But Paul cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Do not harm yourself, for we are all here!" 29 And he called for lights and rushed in, and trembling with fear he fell down before Paul and Silas, 30 and after he brought them out, he said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved ?"
Acts 16:22-30

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
Philippians 4:6

"Job grieved and mourned, but he also fell down in worship of God..."
He said, "Naked I came from my mother's womb, And naked I shall return there. The LORD gave and the LORD has taken away. Blessed be the name of the LORD."
Job 1:21

For the LORD God is a sun and shield; The LORD gives grace and glory; No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.
Psalm 84:11

an example: my cousin's family survived the tornadoes in Texas-- but barely. They left their house to go the the church and the house was destroyed.

Oh, Katy, I am so sorry to hear this! What a terrible ordeal. Your link offers insight; however, and tells the story of your family's providential protection!

From your link: "Thompson said his faith was renewed in friends and family, who have buried him in cash, clothes and food. And in God, who demonstrated quite clearly that everything important is out of our control."

Praise Him Today and Every Day! Today, we are especially grateful that your family is alive and their faith is strengthened, Katy! Our prayers are up for you and your family!

I had to post one more quote from your link, Katy:

"You hear about so much bad in the world, and even here, it’s just a tragedy,” he said. “But we’re trying to focus on all the good. People really have good in their hearts and want to help. It’s easy to lose sight of that until you go through something like this.”

Prayers and Gratitude!

Thanks for your look at this. Events like these always remind me not to complain-- since you will never know what will draw us closer to Truth and give us new insight...

You are welcome, Katy. Thank you for sending it to us. The past few days have seen some brutal weather. I wonder what is behind it? I am happy you have your head on straight, as always, Katy! Let us pray! For answers as well...
