Though we are still sinners, desires shift. Patience grows. Calm takes over. The old behaviors leave, and I am very glad to see them go. Love and joy are things I have always striven for, but this newfound patience, faithfulness and gentleness in attitude is a real pleasure to experience. Something I like to do is read the words of Jesus, highlighted in red in my bible, and when I do, my very cells vibrate with goodness.
I have been looking for scripture to define the changes that occur in new Christians more succinctly. Today in the One Place newsletter, Galatians 5:19-23 was published. Ask and you shall receive, for there was the verse for which I had been looking! I will post it here, if for no other reason than to highlight my gratitude. Praise the Mighty Lamb, as David would say, this day and every day!
19 Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, 21 envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
